The Growth Company’s Supported Employment partner, Jigsaw Facilities Ltd, has won the Small/Micro Employer of the Year Award at the British Association for Supported Employment (BASE) Awards 2023.
The BASE awards are an opportunity to celebrate the wonderful work that takes place across the Supported Employment community, which changes the lives of disabled, neurodivergent, and disadvantaged people through good employment.
The awards recognise achievements and best practice within the inclusive recruitment sector.
Commercial cleaning service Jigsaw Facilities has been a partner of the Salford Supported Employment Service, a joint initiative between Salford City Council and the Growth Company (GC), since March 2023. The service aims to make finding a job easier by connecting individuals with employers looking to recruit, and offers tailored, one-to-one support, prioritising individuals’ needs, skills, and interests.
Jigsaw has been a Disability Confident Employer for many years, employing people with a wide range of physical and mental impairments, including people with autism and learning disabilities.
Following the award ceremony in London yesterday, 14th November, Darryl Cook, Operations Manager at the Growth Company said: “Jigsaw is a business with inclusive employment at its heart and a commitment to employing and supporting people with disabilities, particularly autism.
“They are a stellar example of the positive, life-changing impact good employment can have on neurodivergent individuals and the Growth Company is incredibly proud to work with businesses like Jigsaw through our Supported Employment Service.”
Councillor Hinds, Salford City Council’s Lead Member for Skills and Work, Business and Workforce said: “We’re really pleased Jigsaw Facilities Ltd have won this award and are proud to be working with them through our Supported Employment Service. Jigsaw put equality at the heart of everything they do and are committed to inclusive employment.
“In Salford we believe people with autism or learning disabilities deserve the same opportunities in life as their peers, including paid employment. We’d encourage businesses who want to follow in Jigsaw’s footsteps to contact us for a chat about how we can help you become a more inclusive employer.”
