From our Work & Health programme to an Ambulance Driver

Darren came onto the programme in March earlier this year. At this point, he found the idea of work overwhelming. Through the support of his Key Worker, Dot, who worked with him closely, he developed his self-confidence and desire to return to work. Dot decided the best next steps for Darren would be for him to attend a Step Into Work appointment with Charity from the Salford Work & Health Employer Engagement Consultancy. Charity met with Darren on a 1-2-1 basis, to understand more about him and the types of roles he was looking for. Darren was interested in becoming an ambulance driver, and Charity recognised that he had the right transferrable skills for this role. Both Dot, Charity and Suzanne assisted Darren through the complex application process, and he was successful. As a result, he is currently undertaking his training to become an ambulance driver for the North-West Ambulance Service and couldn’t be any happier. Partner Spotlight – NSL

NSL have been working with The Growth Company for over 10 years, supporting our customers into sustainable employment. Currently, they’re recruiting Civil Enforcement Officers across Greater Manchester, to fill several open vacancies. Successful candidates will be issuing parking tickets to vehicles parked at contravention on behalf of City Councils. The role is hands-on, working outdoors in all weather conditions, and involves a lot of walking. Applicants do not need any prior experience to be submitted for the role, as full training will be provided. GC Education and Skills are running a dedicated 2-week pre-employment training programme to support applicants from 3rd August. All those that complete the course will be guaranteed an interview at the end of the course, which has previously resulted in a 100% job start conversion from the last two cohorts.

The GC Employment Engagement Team in Greater Manchester is excited to announce Careers Month

Throughout September, our Employment Engagement Consultant team will be hosting meetings with employers across Greater Manchester sites for them to come along and meet small cohorts of clients to talk about their organisation as an employment destination, promote available opportunities and answer questions they might have.
