MP Liz Kendall Praises ‘Inspiring’ Working Well Programme

• The Labour MP and Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Liz Kendall, visited some of the Growth Company’s health and wellbeing services on Wednesday as part of a wider trip to Greater Manchester.
• Ms. Kendall heard from participants in the Working Well programme, which aims to help people with complex needs into sustained employment,
• The MP described the trip as “inspiring”.

A national politician praised the Growth Company’s health and wellbeing services on Wednesday.

The Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, Labour MP Liz Kendall, visited Greater Manchester to find out more about the Working Well programme, which helps people in the region find and stay in long-term employment through comprehensive, one-to-one support.

Along with colleagues from the Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust and Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), Ms. Kendall heard from participants and key workers in the Working Well: Individual Placement and Support in Primary Care programme. The participants described the assistance they had received, highlighting the positive difference it had made to their lives.

Growth Company board member and Greater Manchester lead for Technical Education and Skills, Councillor Eamonn O’Brien, also met with the MP in the morning. 

Reflecting on the visit, Liz Kendall said: “What an inspiring day in Greater Manchester learning about their Working Well programme.

“The Working Well programme recognises that health and work are two sides of the same coin – that good work supports good health and good health enables people to get good work.
