Refugee Employability Programme Celebrates One Year of Success in Yorkshire and the Humber

• The Growth Company (GC) delivers the Home Office Refugee Employability Programme (REP) across Yorkshire and the Humber.
• The programme aims to help refugees into sustained employment through individually tailored support.
• Last month, REP staff, partners, and service users celebrated a year of achievements at three special events across the region.

Last month, the Refugee Employability Programme team reflected on a successful year at three celebration events, welcoming partners and service users to its Yorkshire offices.

The events began with a chance to network, allowing everyone to introduce themselves and enjoy REP-branded cupcakes for breakfast.

Service managers Kate Liddle and Naveed Ahmed led the presentations, providing an overview of the programme’s busy and productive first twelve months. They highlighted key activities such as English language ‘Conversation Clubs’, local integration days, coffee mornings, and attendance of various jobs and skills fairs.

Looking to the future, the pair outlined a new volunteering offer for service users, emphasising their team’s commitment to delivering positive and effective services, as well as to empowering individuals and communities to make a difference.

The events concluded with a heartfelt thank you to those who have contributed to the REP’s accomplishments in the region, which include supporting 44 percent of participant refugees into employment during the last quarter.

Commissioned by the Home Office and delivered by the Growth Company, the Refugee Employability Programme helps refugees into work through tailored employability sessions, English language tuition, vocational training, job application assistance, and community integration support.
