Award-Winning United For Ukraine Initiative Hits Key Milestone

- United For Ukraine provides a wide range of support to Ukrainian refugees in the UK.
- The initiative encompasses an online jobs board that connects employers with Ukrainians who are looking for work.
- The team have now helped 600 participants to find a job.
United for Ukraine is a coalition of business stakeholders from across the North of England that supports Ukrainian refugees in the UK.
The initiative is based around a digital jobs platform, created by the Growth Company, which connects employers with evacuees.
Milestone Reached
Since 2022, United For Ukraine has supported hundreds of Ukrainians in places such as Greater Manchester, Yorkshire and Humber, Lancashire, and Merseyside.
As part of their efforts, the team provide essential services, from assistance with CVs and the English language to advice on job searches and career development.
The campaign has directly engaged with more than 5,000 people and 200 employers. What is more, as of last week, 600 participants have started new jobs through the programme.
Award-Winning Impact
This good work has not gone unnoticed. Indeed, the team has recently picked up several notable awards, including the Employment & Skills Award at the 2023 VAS Sheffield Community Awards, the Special Recognition Award at the 2023 Northern Power Women Awards, and a Gratitude Award for staff member Okszana Nepijvoda from the Transcarpathian Council.
Reflecting on the past two years, lead key worker Marianna Vaszilyiv said: “For many displaced Ukrainians, we have become a beacon of hope and a crucial point of contact. We are honoured to be involved in such valuable and necessary work.
“This latest good news story is testament to the passion, dedication, and hard work of everyone involved in this project. We would like to thank them for their ongoing support and commitment.”
