  • Employ Manchester is a new service designed to help Manchester residents gain employment, access skills courses, and find local support to overcome barriers and reach their goals.
  • The service will introduce three Work and Wellbeing Navigators based at libraries in the North, South and Central wards of Manchester, to provide in-person advice, guidance and signposting to local services.
  • Employ Manchester is delivered by the Growth Company in conjunction with Manchester City Council.

Work and Wellbeing Navigators are set to help the people of Manchester benefit from the wide range of employment, skills, and wellbeing support available across the area.

As part of the newly launched Employ Manchester, the navigators will bring together various support services available across Manchester – helping people to gain employment, develop new skills, improve their health, and overcome barriers to support their life and career goals.

The service will introduce the navigators, a new role developed to deliver in-person support at key locations across the City of Manchester, ensuring accessibility for residents from all communities, backgrounds, and areas of the borough.

From Monday, 5th August, the navigators – Jess, Sabrina, and Miles – will be based at libraries in the North, South and Central wards of Manchester. They will be available to provide advice and guidance, refer people to employment and skills programmes, and signpost to any relevant Manchester-based support services and initiatives, to ensure a complete, comprehensive approach.

Naomi Ilagoswa, Director of Strategic Partnerships & External Projects at The Growth Company, said: “Employ Manchester is an innovative new offer that will bring together a variety of support services and make them easily accessible for all Manchester residents.

“We are thrilled to welcome three fantastic Work and Wellbeing Navigators who will be based at libraries across the borough with a reach into other locations.

"This flexible approach across multiple locations will allow us to extend our support to as many people as possible, reaching diverse communities and ensuring no person is left behind when it comes to accessing the support they need.”

Commenting on his new role, Miles Simpson, Work and Wellbeing Navigator for South Manchester, said: “The mission to leave no person or community behind is what drew me in, as it aligns with both my personal values.”

Councillor John Hacking, Executive Member for Skills, Employment and Leisure at Manchester City Council, said: "We're pleased to welcome the Employ Manchester Health and Wellbeing Navigators to the City. They will deliver a much-needed service to our residents to guide them to the right employment and skills programme for them. We're looking forward to working with them over the coming weeks and months."
